Overview:
Responsible for implementing and enhancing Process Safety Management (PSM) programs to bolster site performance and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Identifies and mitigates process safety risks through procedures, reviews, metrics, and analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) process, overseeing facilitators, planning, conducting PHAs, performing Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and assessing the need for Critical Safety Systems (SIS/SIL). Tracks and follows up on PHA action items.
- Manages the Management of Change (MOC) process and oversees the Deferral process.
- Shares PSM best practices across sites and serves on the global Process Safety Council.
- Provides PSM expertise and guidance on recognized engineering practices (RAGAGEP) such as NFPA, ASME, API, and NEC.
- Collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to provide coaching, training, and PSM support.
- Integrates PSM into site standard work processes and ensures compliance with corporate PSM programs.
- Participates in project reviews, ensuring safe design and inclusion of HAZOP and PSSR.
- Leads or participates in PSM audits to ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA RMP and ACC standards.
- Leads or participates in incident investigations, ensuring implementation of corrective actions.
- Utilizes PSM metrics to reduce risk, improve compliance, and drive performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field with PSM experience.
- Additional formal training in Process Safety.
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in PSM and RMP.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and executing PSM programs.
- Exceptional leadership, ownership, and communication skills.
- Audit experience in PSM.
- Expertise in RAGAGEP application.
Education & Experience Preferred:
- P.E. registration, CHMM, CSP, CIH, or equivalent is advantageous.
Skills/Abilities:
- Plant engineering, process engineering, and process safety management.
- Familiarity with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements.
- Understanding of state and federal regulatory laws.
