Overview:
The Senior EHS Specialist is tasked with managing various aspects of site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, with a particular focus on assisting with Air Compliance and other areas as required. This role involves implementing EHS programs, enhancing compliance tools, and fortifying overall site performance, ensuring adherence to US EPA, IEPA, and local regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement environmental and regulatory compliance programs aligned with relevant requirements such as the Clean Air Act, Title V, NESHAP, HON, MON, MACT, PSD, LDAR, among others.
- Establish robust processes, procedures, and work instructions to ensure compliance.
- Maintain systems and records to demonstrate environmental compliance.
- Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks, addressing EHS concerns.
- Interface with local, state, and federal authorities to meet compliance obligations.
- Generate accurate emissions estimates and reporting, utilizing metrics for continuous improvement and to prevent non-compliance.
- Provide EHS support for proposed projects and new activities, focusing on risk mitigation and EHS integration.
- Assist with site compliance permitting and ensure understanding and implementation of permit requirements.
- Monitor regulatory trends and emerging issues, staying informed about proposed regulations.
- Utilize third-party service providers as necessary to support compliance efforts.
- Offer support to the plant outside of regular business hours as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing, consulting, or equivalent.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to resolve compliance and permitting issues.
- Demonstrated program and project management, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Experience in chemical, refining, manufacturing, or similar industries.
