Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented General Manager to lead operations at a flagship manufacturing facility within the industrial equipment sector. This role reports to the Vice President of Operations and is responsible for driving operational excellence, executing strategic initiatives, and ensuring the site meets both short-term performance goals and long-term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including manufacturing, engineering, quality, planning, and continuous improvement, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
- Lead labor relations and maintain positive engagement with union leadership.
- Align production capacity and performance with customer demand through effective planning and resource management.
- Drive operational excellence using KPIs focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost, supported by root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Implement Lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Manage production scheduling, resource allocation, and staffing levels to meet operational targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, HR, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure alignment with broader business objectives.
- Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations, including P&L responsibility for a complex site.
- Proven success implementing Lean and continuous improvement initiatives within a world-class manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience in labor relations and managing unionized workforces.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic growth plans while maintaining operational excellence.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Track record of building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
