Project Engineer

Position Summary:

DSJ Global is currently partnered with an industry leading plastic cap manufacturer who is looking to add a Project Engineer to their growing team in Cowpens, SC. This role is critical in leading and supporting projects related to the design, development, and production of plastic bottle caps. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in injection molding processes, tooling, and project management within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept through production, focusing on plastic injection molded bottle caps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, tooling, quality, and production to ensure project success.
  • Develop and optimize injection molding processes to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Specify and procure molds, tooling, and equipment; manage vendor relationships and timelines.
  • Conduct mold trials, validate tooling, and support PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions.
  • Troubleshoot molding issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain project documentation including timelines, budgets, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in plastic injection molding, preferably in packaging or closures.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and mold flow analysis tools.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
