One of the nation's premier architectural coatings manufacturers is looking for a Food Scientist to lead their rapidly expanding team!
The Commodity Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing procurement practices ensuring low total cost of ownership, high quality procurement, and strong supplier and customer relationships to meet the packaging and CAPEX needs of the company. The candidate will negotiate packaging contracts and CAPEX purchases, create contracts, develop sourcing strategies, and ensure competitive pricing.
The Packaging and CAPEX Commodity Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Plants, Quality, and Engineering organizations to head sourcing project which bring forth desired results, mitigate business risk and drive efficiencies to meet their current and future needs.
- Create and implement sourcing strategies, which include competitive intelligence.
- Negotiate with suppliers for purchases and contracts that achieve lowest total, and which are in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage contractual commitments and evaluate suppliers, ensuring all purchases are consistent with quality and delivery requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Forecast market changes; develop and recommend alternative sourcing options.
- Analyze, develop, and deliver timely cost analysis. Maintain sourcing database and metrics for reporting and communicating Procurement activities.
- Execute data analysis for strategies
The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:
- Bachelor's Degree in field of business, sciences, or engineering
- Minimum of 5+ years' experience in packaging and/or CAPEX Procurement or experience as a packaging or equipment engineer/specialist.
- Experience in use of ERP system (SAP and ARIBA preferred)
- P.M. and/or CPSM certification
- Ability to travel 10% - 20%
