Director of Purchasing

A leading organization within the Construction and Building Materials industry is currently seeking the ideal candidate for a Director of Purchasing position in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. The Director of Purchasing will be a seasoned individual with demonstrated success and experience in developing and managing a procurement department. This position requires leadership and attention to detail, combined with a proven track record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all construction positions are well staffed with individuals that are competent in technical abilities, cost control measures, administrative and customer service skills
- Develop, hone, and execute new procurement strategies across all channels of supply
- Act as liaison to expedite the flow of cost and pricing information to other divisions within the organization
- Recruit and continuously evaluate subcontractors for quality standards and scheduling deadlines
- Support land acquisition and development activities as needed
- Review and analyze monthly reports in relation to budget reserves, expenses, overages, and write-offs
- Create hard cost budgets and pricing
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting or related field is required
- MBA is preferred
- Previous experience as a Procurement or Supply Chain Manager, Procurement Officer or Head of Procurement is preferred
- 6+ years' experience overseeing the procurement and operations within the construction industry
- Proficient in reading and interpreting Construction Documents
- Formal OSHA training is preferred
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills
