Site Materials Manager - Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Location: Houston, TX
Position Summary
The Site Materials Manager reports to the Director of Supply Chain and manages materials-related processes, spaces, and personnel. The Site Materials Manager identifies opportunities for improvement around planning, inventory, and logistics and works to lead their implementation. The role requires someone who is highly analytical, strategic and approaches problems in a structured manner.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Identifies material requirements from production and cycles
- Plans and oversees material movement through the production cycle
- Handles material movement with procurement and production
- Oversees and ensures proper production control planning and schedules programs to meet sales forecasts
- Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs
- Creates and/or maintains inventory systems such as re-order points, ABC's, inventory trackers and ERPs
- Oversees material and inventory managing department
- Assists all departments with ERP system and training
- Creates tools and processes to ensure inventory management system is reliable and up-to-date
- Develops, establishes and provides for the maintenance of reporting systems that relate to the materials function
- Creates tracking databases and reports showing inventory, purchasing and stock quantities
- Offers technical expertise to cross-functional project teams
- Works closely with individual departments to understand customer requirements and assists in providing solutions to specialized customer requests
- Establishes cycle counts and best ordering practices for the company
- Works with the procurement team to ensure correct quantity of stock product
- Responsible for purchase of manufactured product
- Performs queries and maintains inventory throughout the pharmacy
- Sources common stocked items
- Manages receiving/warehouse department
- Responsible for safety of warehouse personnel
- Responsible for cGMP compliance for receiving/warehouse department
Knowledge And Skills
- Experience in all tactical and strategic aspects of purchasing & supply chain management including strategic sourcing, commodity management, supply base/relationship management, cost reduction and continuous process improvement
- Must be able to demonstrate good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to demonstrate good analytical and decision-making skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Experience And Qualifications
- 5+ years professional experience in procurement, material control, contract auditing
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field
- Chemical and/or pharmaceutical experience preferred
- Prior experience with Oracle recommended
- Prior experience with Compounding and/or pharmaceuticals required
