Senior Project Engineering Manager Opportunity with a leading Private Chemical Manufacturing Organization

One of the Largest Privately held Chemical Manufacturing Organizations is looking to expand their Engineering team with a newly created opening for a Senior Project Engineering Manager. This Senior Project Engineering Manager will lead, facilitate, and drive end to end line of business process improvement projects that are aligned to the team Strategy. The primary focus of the Engineering department is to lead continuous improvement activities related to commercial chemical manufacturing processes.
The project management group is responsible for implementing capital projects for new chemical plants, major expansions and debottlenecking of existing plants and infrastructure facilities. Engineering personnel will lead continuous improvement teams for major product lines and manufacturing areas, providing technical insights, leadership, and disciplined project management for implementation of improvement projects.
The Project Engineering Manager will have the following responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Maintains and updates the capital project execution procedure. Continually improves the project execution procedure to deliver maximum value to the business. Ensures proper training is provided to the project engineers for complete adherence to the procedure.
- Develops and facilitates the generation of project risk register and its ongoing maintenance. Ensures that every project has a risk register that is aligned with the project team and regularly reviewed thru the project lifecycle.
- Maintains a strategic partnership with procurement to develop superior suppliers and contactors for capital projects.
- Manages all phases of project including conceptualization, feasibility, formulation, approval and execution of all facets of assigned projects.
- Works closely with the SHE group to drive safety in design and construction. Ensures that SHE requirements are properly integrated into the scope of capital projects and sets a zero incident mind-set in implementation of capital projects
- Provides project execution expertise to ensure on-time, in-scope, in-budget and safe delivery of project objectives and shares best practices across all regions. Develops and manages lesson learned database.
- Establishes and implements an audit procedure to quantitatively measure project performance against the baseline plan and stated benefits of the project.
The ideal Project Engineering Manager will have the following skill set:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering required. Master's in Engineering or MBA desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a project manager, along with exposure to construction management and manufacturing roles in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience in executing EPC projects
- PMP certification highly desired
- Experience directly managing others required
- Project management, excellent communication/collaboration, scheduling, bid evaluation, management leadership, talent development, financial reporting and forecasting necessary.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites, MS project, AutoCAD.
