Strategic Sourcing Manager - New Product Development

Our client, one of the world's leaders within the medical devices industry, is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join their robotics division and champion the strategic sourcing process of choice.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager - New Product Development will play a key part in the expansion and development of the team's sourcing function, which includes managing, developing, and implementing regional strategies in alignment with the global vision and polices. The successful candidate will have the overall responsibility of leading the strategic initiatives across sourcing and contract negotiations for this business division and has a quick management track built into the career path. More broadly, given that this is a newer division for the organization, fostering synergy between the new division and other legacy groups will be important for success in the role to fully integrate the new group.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager - New Product Development will have the following responsibilities:
- Maintaining effective alignment between tactical site procurement and strategic procurement initiatives / objectives
- Collaborating with Project Management and Product Engineering functions to establish and follow a robust design process-based NPD guideline, including the improvement of new product development programs
- Participating in new product/part design reviews and coordinates the election and participation of applicable suppliers
- Keeping abreast of changing technologies, including design advances, material developments, industry design standards, equipment, and techniques
- Monitoring performance of supply chain and recommends scope, schedule, cost or resource adjustments
- Participating in pre-production manufacturing pilot runs and start-up of new product manufacturing as necessary to assure on-time delivery of parts and a high level of supplier performance
- Recommend potential product, design, and manufacturing (Including additive manufacturing and other methods) processes to improve prototype and pre-production build timing
The ideal candidate will have the following skill set:
- Bachelor's Degree (Master's Preferred)
- Engineering/Technical background preferred
- 5+ year's of procurement experience
- 4+ years of experience within new product development/introduction line sourcing
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
