In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring Import/Export expectations are defined, fulfilled and maintained for products received from, and placed on, the world-wide market. This multi-faceted position requires contact with government agencies, logistics providers, brokers, customers, suppliers, and company management teams on matters requiring judgement and diplomacy where errors in judgement or failure to get results may cause significant delays, affect company image, or incur loss of revenue.
YOU WILL IMPACT THE BUSINESS THROUGH THESE TASKS:
- Define, implement, and enforce import/export standard work processes and foster functional ownership and coordination of trade compliance information into the organization to ensure compliance with company and governmental rules and regulations.
- Oversee and provide guidance on compliance matters which are not limited to but include customer and restricted party screening, tariff, origin, ECCN classification, and preferential origin status.
- Administer the Company's Anti-Corruption Program as applicable to import/export trade activities;
- Consult and coordinate with the corporate General Counsel staff and corporate Compliance Department team as needed to support corporate and opco compliance goals.
- Interface, directly and indirectly, with various government agencies as they apply to company goods, software, technical data and services on classification, compliance, and licensing.
- Evaluate risks, determine areas of non-compliance, raise awareness of export/import control issues through focused training and communications.
- Provide knowledgeable input to functional groups (e.g., Research and Development, New Product Introduction) to assist them in making sourcing decisions with regards to duty rates, availability of preferential treatment programs, known trade barriers, and other trade risks.
- Assist with audits to ensure compliance to all corporate and regulatory guidelines and implement recommendations as necessary.
- Maintain compliant export files to support licensing and classification determinations.
- Provide support to the duty drawback program.
WITHIN YOUR EDUCATION, BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS degree and a minimum of 3 years import/export experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. export control laws, regulations, and preferential duty programs.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present them in a technical environment.
- Ability to influence across the company and to interact with persons at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to set and accomplish Company goals.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively with experience in making good judgement calls.
