Transportation Specialist
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Specialist to join our client's logistics team, focusing on carrier management. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and reliable transportation of goods across our client's supply chain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing relationships with third-party transportation carriers, monitoring service levels, and optimizing carrier performance to support operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all transportation carriers, including parcel, LTL, FTL, and regional providers.
Manage carrier onboarding, contract negotiations, rate updates, and service agreements.
Monitor and analyze carrier performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, claims, service failures) and develop improvement plans as needed.
Collaborate with internal teams (Distribution, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance) to align transportation strategies with business needs.
Investigate and resolve carrier-related issues including delays, damages, and billing discrepancies.
Maintain strong, professional relationships with carrier representatives to ensure responsive and reliable service.
Evaluate and recommend transportation solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in transportation or logistics, with direct involvement in carrier management.
Knowledge of retail supply chain operations and transportation modes.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
