Aerospace Expert Quality Engineer
A leading aerospace and advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Aerospace Expert Quality Engineer to serve as the lead quality authority for New Product Introduction (NPI), New Product Development (NPD), and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives.
Embedded within the Design Engineering organization, this role is responsible for integrating quality, risk management, manufacturability, reliability, and customer requirements into the product development lifecycle from concept through production launch.
This individual will partner closely with Design Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure products and processes are designed for quality, compliance, manufacturability, and operational excellence. The position drives preventive quality methodologies and industry best practices to proactively identify and mitigate risks prior to product release and industrialization.
As a technical leader, this role will oversee APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Design Reviews, Design Risk Management, Production Readiness, and Product Development Quality Systems while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
Location: Greater Los Angeles Area (Onsite)
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Quality Engineering lead for all New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
- Lead implementation of APQP methodologies throughout product development and launch activities.
- Drive risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts across the product lifecycle.
- Lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) implementation and production readiness activities.
- Act as the primary quality representative supporting Design Engineering teams.
- Review qualification and verification plans to ensure customer, regulatory, and internal requirements are met.
- Analyze quality data, lessons learned, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and preventive quality initiatives.
- Influence engineering and business decisions through technical expertise, risk-based thinking, and cross-functional leadership.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship, Green Card, refugee, or asylee status required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience within aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- 5+ years of experience leading New Product Development, New Product Introduction, Product Launch, or Advanced Quality Planning initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and production readiness methodologies.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Black Belt, or similar quality certification preferred.
