Why This Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in building and supporting a highly automated manufacturing operation from the ground up. Rather than maintaining mature production systems, you will help establish equipment reliability programs, support new automation initiatives, and influence how production systems evolve as manufacturing capacity expands. You will work closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and product development teams while helping drive operational excellence across a technically advanced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automated manufacturing equipment to minimize production downtime.
- Build, assemble, install, and validate custom machinery, automation systems, fixtures, and prototype equipment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to equipment operation and maintenance.
- Own preventive maintenance programs, including scheduling, execution, and documentation.
- Analyze equipment performance, downtime trends, and maintenance records to optimize reliability strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on production support, process improvements, and new product introductions.
- Ensure all equipment operates safely and complies with internal quality requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
- Support equipment qualification, commissioning, and ongoing operational readiness activities.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in equipment maintenance, automation support, electromechanical assembly, or a related technical field.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, electrical, controls, robotics, and automated manufacturing systems.
- Hands-on experience with industrial automation equipment, sensors, motors, pneumatics, actuators, and control systems.
- Ability to work in controlled manufacturing, laboratory, or cleanroom environments while following required PPE protocols.
- Experience within medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with PLCs, machine vision systems, motion control technologies, robotics, and basic programming concepts is advantageous.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for learning emerging automation technologies.
