Hydraulic Excavators (HEX) are among the most versatile and widely used pieces of equipment on job sites. As the industry enters a new era of technological advancement, our team is leading efforts to elevate excavator capabilities through cutting-edge control systems and intelligent automation.
We are seeking a Machine Control Systems Engineer to help develop the next generation of machine control features and system efficiency improvements. This role focuses on advanced control software and system design across a range of products including hydraulic excavators, forestry equipment, material handlers, and work tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement innovative machine control algorithms to enhance hydraulic systems, electrification platforms, and work tool integration.
- Conduct on-machine development activities such as control system tuning and software verification at test facilities and occasionally at customer sites.
- Use model-based development tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) for control algorithm and software design.
- Apply data acquisition and diagnostic tools (e.g., CANape) to validate and refine system performance.
- Collaborate with component and vehicle teams to optimize hydraulic and power systems for improved controllability and efficiency.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Annual Product Update (APU) initiatives from concept through production.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with embedded control systems, hydraulic components, or embedded software development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively across diverse teams.
- Ability to identify and resolve system-level issues independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing or testing complex control systems.
- Familiarity with electro-hydraulic systems such as implements and hydrostatic drives.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment and an understanding of operator needs and job site applications.
- Advanced degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Additional Information
- Work Model: This is a full-time, in-office position (5 days/week).
- Travel: Up to 15% domestic and international travel may be required.
- Relocation: Domestic relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
