Facilities Manager
One of our clients in the Food Distribution space is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee both a Distribution central and a Diesel Truck Repair Shop. This person will be a pivotal asset to the team and have heavy collaboration across different departments including Operations, Warehouse, Transportation, Safety, QA, Sanitation, and HR.
Location: Albany, NY (Relocation Assistance Available)
Compensation: $90,000-$120,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise teams maintaining building, grounds, sanitation, security, material‑handling equipment, and refrigeration, ensuring preventive maintenance, compliance with PWMs, and a safety‑first culture.
- Oversee refrigeration operations to maintain temperature integrity, prevent product loss, and respond to equipment issues in collaboration with QA and Food Safety.
- Manage facility operations and capital projects, coordinating repairs, upgrades, and installations to minimize disruption to distribution activities.
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate staff; manage labor budgets, scheduling, performance, and employee relations while balancing daily tasks and long‑term projects.
- Establish and manage vendor relationships for utilities, refrigeration, janitorial, pest control, and security, ensuring compliance with insurance and contract requirements.
- Direct procurement and lifecycle management of facility assets (racking, MHE, refrigeration units, vehicles, shop equipment), oversee budgets, warranties, and replacement planning.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, USDA, DOT), maintain audit‑ready documentation, support safety programs, lead emergency response planning, and coordinate infrastructure needs with warehouse and transportation teams.
Qualifications:
- You must have hands‑on experience managing refrigerated facilities (ammonia refrigeration certification is a significant advantage) as well as proven leadership of an on‑site diesel maintenance shop. This role also requires 24/7 availability to respond to refrigeration system issues as they arise.
- 5+ years facilities management with cold‑chain/refrigeration experience (ammonia/Freon knowledge, regulatory compliance: OSHA, EPA, USDA, FDA, GMP).
- Proven leadership in managing maintenance teams, budgets, vendors, and multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Technical proficiency with CMMS, basic analytics, Microsoft Office, and working knowledge of DOT, Hazmat, environmental, building, life‑safety, and fire protection standards.
