Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production machinery and mechanical systems to support consistent product quality and manufacturing efficiency. This site is in Lenoir, NC.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on GMP utilities and production equipment independently, following established procedures.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks in alignment with production schedules.
  • Monitor and update spare parts inventory as necessary.
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with technical, engineering, and manufacturing teams to meet operational goals.
  • Accurately document all maintenance and repair activities, including deviations and anomalies, using appropriate reporting systems.
  • Follow aseptic processing protocols and minimize downtime during active production.
  • Support product changeovers, equipment setups, and start-up processes.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pharmaceutical processing equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and maintain detailed maintenance records.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively within the maintenance team.
  • Provide training to others on mechanical maintenance procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and P&ID schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and related systems.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Strong understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Proficient computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Experience with PLCs and/or Distributed Control Systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical filling operations is desirable.
  • Preferred knowledge of particle measuring systems, air monitoring, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, vacuum systems, and peristaltic pumps.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade school or associate degree preferred.
  • Trade certifications in areas such as Industrial Electrical, Refrigeration, Boiler Operation, Welding, or similar fields are a plus.
