Materials Engineer
Position Summary:
DSJ Global is currently partnered with an industry leading Water Treatment Solutions Manufacturing organization who is looking to add a Materials Engineer to their Lexington, KY team. The Material Engineer is responsible for reviewing the blends for optimal performance while considering material availability, costs, and material age.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and optimization of recycled PP and PE materials for various applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, sustainability, and manufacturing to integrate recycled materials into product lines.
- Conduct material characterization, performance testing, and quality assurance for recycled plastics.
- Evaluate suppliers and raw materials to ensure compliance with technical and sustainability standards.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and innovations in recycled plastics.
- Provide technical support and guidance on recycled material selection and processing.
- Document and present findings, recommendations, and technical reports to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience working with recycled PP and/or PE materials.
- Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, material properties, and processing techniques.
- Experience with material testing methods such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, tensile testing, etc.
- Familiarity with sustainability standards and circular economy principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or additional certifications in polymer science or sustainability.
- Experience working in consumer goods, automotive, packaging, or similar industries.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to recycled materials (e.g., FDA, REACH, RoHS).
