Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will work within either the reliability or project department and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing mill reliability programs in their assigned area. This role focuses on improving and maintaining the reliability of machinery through technical expertise, problem-solving, and collaboration with maintenance and operations teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of maintenance program development from concept to implementation.
  • Support scheduled maintenance outages and reliability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to complete mechanical projects, including training, spare parts management, preventive maintenance checklists, and technical documentation.
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability and performance.
  • Utilize predictive and preventive maintenance tools to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate equipment documentation and develop manuals for precision inspection and maintenance.
  • Plan and execute capital projects for equipment replacement.
  • Optimize job performance for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Apply root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to solve problems.
  • Manage contractors and ensure quality job execution.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical/reliability maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry.
