Product Engineer

Overview:

This engineering role focuses on the design, analysis, and development of pressure vessels in accordance with ASME standards. The engineer will be responsible for creating and refining mechanical designs, supporting product development initiatives, and ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. This position also involves cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, quality, and technical support teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design pressure vessels in compliance with ASME Section VIII Div. 1 using specialized engineering software
  • Conduct mechanical design and performance analysis for components such as heat exchangers and storage tanks
  • Support both new product development and customization of existing designs to meet client specifications
  • Collaborate with product management and sales to expand product offerings
  • Generate complete engineering documentation including BOMs, drawings, and calculation packages
  • Process engineering changes and support quality assurance through technical documentation
  • Prepare design submissions for regulatory approval in Canada (CRN)
  • Review and approve technical drawings and customer submittals
  • Address non-conformance issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide technical support to customer service teams and mentor junior design staff
  • Utilize both proprietary and industry-standard software for thermal and mechanical analysis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally with pressure vessels or HVAC systems
  • PE License (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of CEI's DesignCalc for Pressure Vessels Pressure Vessels
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with FEA tools and Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, NBIC, ANSI, CSA B51, TEMA, IBC, ASCE/SEI)
  • Understanding of material selection and GD&T principles
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage both short- and long-term projects
  • Effective communicator and team collaborator
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%) for meetings, training, or site visits
