Position Summary
The Production Manager will oversee all manufacturing operations within the facility, ensuring the efficient production of custom and standard environmental test chambers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This individual will lead production teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality, and customer service teams to meet operational objectives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with experience managing assembly, fabrication, and production operations in a complex industrial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, workforce management, and resource allocation.
- Manage and develop production supervisors, team leads, and manufacturing personnel across multiple shifts.
- Drive safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
- Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to support new product introductions, manufacturing improvements, and issue resolution.
- Identify and implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
- Optimize labor utilization, workflow processes, and production capacity to support business growth.
- Ensure products are manufactured to engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement teams to mitigate material shortages and maintain production schedules.
- Manage production budgets and support cost reduction initiatives.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, training, and succession planning for production personnel.
- Champion a culture of accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including experience managing supervisors and hourly production teams.
- Experience within industrial equipment, electromechanical assembly, HVAC systems, environmental testing equipment, custom machinery, aerospace, defense, or related manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly operations, fabrication, and production scheduling.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to utilize KPI-driven decision making to improve operational performance.
- Strong leadership, employee development, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
