About the Company

Our client is a leading global logistics organisation specialising in the management of complex supply chain programs for major international customers. Through innovative 4PL and lead logistics solutions, they deliver end-to-end supply chain management, operational excellence, and strategic value to a portfolio of globally recognised brands.

As part of continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Program Director to take ownership of a portfolio of high-profile customer programs and lead strategic relationships with some of the world's most demanding supply chain operations.

The Opportunity

This is a highly visible role responsible for overseeing large-scale logistics programs for key customers with significant international freight volumes. The successful candidate will act as the senior point of contact for strategic customer relationships, ensuring operational performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and identifying opportunities to create additional value for both the client and the business.

This is not a sales or business development role. Instead, it requires an individual who combines operational expertise with commercial awareness and can successfully manage complex customer programs from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall delivery and governance of large-scale customer logistics programs.
  • Manage and develop executive-level customer relationships across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ensure service performance, operational excellence, and contractual compliance across all logistics activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, efficiency, visibility, and service enhancement.
  • Identify value-creation opportunities within existing customer programs and collaborate internally to implement solutions.
  • Oversee KPI management, reporting, service reviews, and strategic business reviews.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across operations, procurement, transportation, and supply chain functions.
  • Manage risk, escalation processes, and issue resolution for critical customer programs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers on supply chain strategy and logistics optimisation.
  • Support the long-term growth and retention of strategic accounts through exceptional service delivery and stakeholder management.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience within logistics, supply chain, freight forwarding, or lead logistics environments.
  • Proven experience operating within a 4PL (Fourth-Party Logistics) or LLP (Lead Logistics Provider) environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, high-volume logistics programs for multinational customers.
  • Experience supporting customers with significant international freight volumes, ideally comparable to 20,000+ containers annually or similar levels of operational complexity.
  • Strong background working with retail, FMCG, consumer goods, or high-volume distribution customers.
  • Experience managing strategic customer relationships at both operational and executive levels.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify opportunities for operational and strategic improvement.
  • Deep understanding of global supply chains, transportation management, and logistics operations.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Additional European or Asian languages are considered an advantage.
  • Must be based in the Netherlands or able to commute regularly to the Rotterdam area.
