Project Engineer
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team in a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing engineering projects that improve plant operations, enhance safety, and support production goals. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage capital and process improvement projects from concept through commissioning.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with internal departments (production, maintenance, EHS, quality) and external contractors/vendors.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Prepare technical documentation including P&IDs, equipment specifications, and process flow diagrams.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project progress and report on key performance indicators.
- Support troubleshooting and optimization of existing chemical processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Demonstrates experience in project engineering or management, with a solid understanding of capital projects and plant operations; a background in construction is preferred. PMP training or certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of chemical process design, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
