Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Senior Supply Chain Planning Manager to lead and optimize end-to-end planning operations for a growing manufacturing organization in Augusta, Georgia. This leader will be responsible for driving demand planning, inventory planning, materials planning, production planning, and tactical purchasing activities to ensure the efficient flow of materials across the business.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong manufacturing background, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of improving service levels, inventory performance, and operational efficiency. This position will lead a team of 10+ professionals across planning, purchasing, and materials functions while partnering closely with Operations, Procurement, Manufacturing, Finance, and Commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of supply chain planning, including demand planning, production planning, inventory planning, materials planning, and replenishment activities.
  • Manage and develop a team of 10+ planners, buyers, and supply chain professionals, creating a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Establish and maintain inventory strategies that balance customer service requirements, working capital objectives, and production efficiency.
  • Oversee tactical purchasing operations, including purchase order management, supplier order execution, inventory replenishment, and material availability.
  • Drive material planning processes to ensure uninterrupted production while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing leadership to align production schedules with customer demand and supply constraints.
  • Lead Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and cross-functional planning initiatives to improve forecasting accuracy and supply chain responsiveness.
  • Monitor and analyze planning KPIs, including inventory turns, forecast accuracy, OTIF performance, capacity utilization, stockouts, and schedule adherence.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiencies and reduce overall supply chain costs.
  • Partner closely with procurement teams on supplier performance, risk mitigation, capacity planning, and material continuity.
  • Develop scenario planning and risk management strategies to address supply disruptions, demand fluctuations, and production constraints.
  • Utilize ERP and planning systems to improve data integrity, visibility, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives, product launches, and network optimization projects across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, materials planning, inventory planning, production planning, or related functions within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience overseeing tactical purchasing operations, purchase order management, supplier coordination, and replenishment planning.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams, preferably overseeing 10+ direct and indirect reports.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory management, production scheduling, and supply planning processes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional planning activities, including S&OP or Integrated Business Planning (IBP).
  • Advanced ERP/MRP experience (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience leading planning functions within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Background managing both planning and purchasing teams.
  • Track record of improving inventory performance, forecast accuracy, and customer service metrics.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience preferred.
