(Sr.) R&D Scientist

Our client, a global leader in the ingredients manufacturing space, is seeking a (Sr.) R&D Scientist to support innovation and growth across the North American beverage market. This individual will play a key role in developing differentiated powder and liquid beverage solutions while collaborating closely with cross‑functional partners to bring products from concept through commercialization.

This is a highly hands-on role suited for an experienced product development professional with strong technical depth, commercial awareness, and customer-facing capabilities. Level of the role can be flexible between Scientist to Senior Scientist level based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end formulation and concept development for internal and customer-facing beverage projects
  • Develop powder and liquid beverage products aligned with customer, market, and regulatory requirements
  • Apply strong technical and commercial understanding of ingredients, processing, and end-use applications
  • Drive innovation within cost, quality, and manufacturing constraints
  • Plan and execute pilot plant trials and support scale-up and first production runs (internal and third-party)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with flavor, nutrition, regulatory, sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams
  • Support customer engagements through technical presentations, demos, and on-site or virtual trials
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of product quality, including flavor, color, texture, stability, and nutritional profile

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline (advanced degree a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience (5+ years) developing and commercializing beverage products in a product development or applications-focused role
  • Hands-on exposure to formulating with value‑added or functional ingredients preferred
  • Strong familiarity with beverage trends, customers, and commercialization considerations within the North American market
  • History of successfully carrying products from concept through scale‑up and launch
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating across technical and commercial teams
  • Solid technical foundation across formulation, sensory evaluation, processing, and food safety fundamentals
