Retail Design & VM Director
Our client is a leading global lifestyle fashion and premium beauty group with a portfolio of iconic brands spanning apparel, accessories and lifestyle categories. With a strong footprint across Asia Pacific and continued investment in retail innovation, the company is seeking an experienced Store Design & Visual Merchandising Director - China to elevate the brand experience across the region.
This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for shaping consumer-facing environments, driving visual excellence, and creating inspiring retail experiences across flagship stores, boutiques, outlets, shop-in-shops, and pop-up activations.
Job Responsibilities
Retail Design & Store Experience
- Lead the regional store design strategy across APAC, including Greater China.
- Develop innovative retail concepts that enhance customer engagement and strengthen brand equity.
- Oversee store openings, remodels, relocations, and retail transformation initiatives.
- Partner with global creative and brand teams to adapt design concepts for local markets.
- Ensure consistency of brand expression across all physical retail touchpoints.
Visual Merchandising Leadership
- Define and implement visual merchandising strategies across multiple markets.
- Lead seasonal campaigns, product launches, window displays, and in-store storytelling.
- Drive best-in-class execution of VM standards and brand presentation.
- Utilize consumer insights and retail analytics to optimize customer experience and commercial performance.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead a regional Store Design and VM team.
- Establish processes, tools, and best practices across APAC markets.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and executional excellence.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, Industrial Design, Visual Merchandising, or related discipline.
- 12-15+ years of experience within fashion, luxury, lifestyle, sporting goods, footwear, or premium consumer brands.
- Strong background in retail design, visual merchandising, and branded consumer environments.
- Demonstrated success leading regional projects across APAC and Greater China.
- Experience managing flagship stores, retail rollouts, and experiential retail concepts.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and project management capabilities.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance creativity and business objectives.
- Fluent English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
