The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Supply Chain Manager to lead logistics operations and transportation strategy for China. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines team management, operational execution, logistics transformation, and strategic planning within a highly regulated life sciences environment.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring seamless international movement of biotechnology materials, manufacturing equipment, temperature-sensitive products, and other high-value shipments across global supply networks.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team responsible for international transportation and export logistics operations.
- Manage complex outbound shipments across biotech materials, laboratory consumables, manufacturing equipment, and critical business supplies.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with global freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics service providers.
- Drive carrier sourcing, contract negotiations, freight optimization initiatives, and transportation cost savings programs.
- Develop long-term logistics and transportation strategies across air, ocean, rail, and ground transportation networks.
- Ensure GDP-compliant cold chain management for temperature-sensitive materials and biological products.
- Lead business continuity planning, logistics risk management, and contingency strategies.
- Oversee export documentation, customs compliance, and international trade processes.
- Act as the SAP logistics subject matter expert and drive process standardization and training initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related disciplines.
- 7+ years of experience in international logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
- Experience within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated industries is highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of international freight operations, customs procedures, export documentation, and Incoterms.
- Hands-on experience managing cold chain logistics and GDP requirements.
- Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP platforms is appreciated.
- Proven track record of logistics vendor management, freight negotiations, and cost optimization.
- Strong communication skills in English and Chinese.
- Based in Guangzhou, P.R.C.
