A leading marine services organization is seeking an experienced Estimator to support bid development, project costing, and business development activities. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing technical specifications, and supporting the pursuit of new project opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring strong marine industry experience, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

Estimating & Proposal Development

  • Prepare detailed project estimates, cost analyses, and bid proposals for marine and shipyard-related projects.
  • Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and schedule estimates.
  • Complete proposals, bid summaries, and supporting documentation required for project submissions.
  • Evaluate project requirements and identify risks, assumptions, and cost impacts.

Technical Review & Analysis

  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical documentation to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Analyze project requirements and communicate special conditions impacting cost, schedule, or execution.
  • Review engineering and construction information to support accurate project pricing.
  • Ensure estimates align with applicable technical and regulatory requirements.

Business Development Support

  • Identify and support new project opportunities.
  • Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and project discussions as required.
  • Assist in developing relationships with customers and industry partners.
  • Support efforts to expand project opportunities and drive business growth.

Project Coordination

  • Communicate estimating assumptions, requirements, and project risks to internal stakeholders.
  • Support planning efforts during project handoff and execution phases.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure estimate accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in marine, shipbuilding, engineering, repair, or related industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of shipyard operations, marine construction, or vessel repair activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Project, Word, and Outlook.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Background:

  • Experience working with commercial marine vessels.
  • Familiarity with maritime regulations, classification requirements, and industry standards.
  • Experience supporting project pursuits within shipbuilding, vessel repair, or marine construction environments.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel to customer sites, project locations, or vessel facilities as required.
