Field Engineer
We are seeking a hands-on Maritime Field Engineer to support the construction of complex marine vessels by bridging the gap between engineering design and shipyard production. This role is responsible for executing build strategies, coordinating system installation, and ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime standards.
As a Maritime Field Engineer, you'll be a key liaison between design engineering and on-site production teams-helping translate technical intent into successful execution on the shop floor. You'll be deeply involved in vessel construction, ensuring systems are installed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support build strategies for new vessel construction
- Create and maintain accurate as-built drawings and documentation
- Coordinate closely with engineering & production teams on system routing and installation
- Provide real-time technical guidance and problem-solving during construction
- Support installation of piping, electrical, and structural systems onboard vessels
- Ensure all work meets ABS, USCG, and internal quality standards
- Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce rework
- Resolve discrepancies between design and field conditions proactively
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marine, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
- 3-7+ years experience in shipyard or maritime engineering environments
- Strong understanding of vessel systems (structural, piping, electrical)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (ShipConstructor or similar tools a plus)
- Experience working in new build, construction-heavy environments
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and collaborate cross-functionally
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to operate on the shop floor
