Paper Operations Maintenance Coordinator

DSJ Global is partnered with a leading integrated paper and packaging manufacturer who is seeking a Paper Machine Operations Maintenance Coordinator to provide leadership and support within a high-volume paper manufacturing facility. This position partners closely with Operations Managers, Maintenance Teams, and Shift Supervisors to ensure equipment reliability, maintenance coordination, and operational continuity within the Finished Products area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and prioritize maintenance work orders, including emergency and break-in work.
  • Evaluate and approve maintenance work requests based on operational requirements and production demands.
  • Determine which maintenance activities can be completed by operations personnel.
  • Coordinate maintenance execution between production and maintenance teams.
  • Determine equipment shutdown requirements and coordinate planned outages.
  • Adjust maintenance priorities as operational needs change.
  • Coordinate housekeeping activities related to maintenance work.
  • Manage lockout/tagout processes and ensure safe work execution.
  • Coordinate confined space, hot work, and other required permits.
  • Collaborate with maintenance planners and supervisors to prepare backlog work for scheduling.
  • Support scheduling and execution of planned maintenance activities.
  • Foster communication between operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to maximize equipment reliability and production efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent manufacturing operations experience.
  • Experience within a paper manufacturing, pulp and paper, containerboard, packaging, or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment reliability principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in operations, maintenance, or production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on safety, reliability, and production goals.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities in a continuous-process manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of equipment shutdown planning, maintenance scheduling, and asset reliability practices.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial operations with a strong safety culture.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an active industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and navigate production areas regularly.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment, elevated work areas, noise, heat, humidity, and other industrial conditions.
