Job Title: Transportation Manager
Location: Buffalo, NY
Lead and oversee transportation operations with a strong focus on safety, service, team performance, and cost efficiency. This role is responsible for managing CDL-A drivers (unionized workforce experience required), ensuring on-time deliveries, regulatory compliance, and a positive team culture while supporting overall distribution operations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and develop transportation personnel through coaching, training, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company regulations.
- Supervise daily transportation activities to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective deliveries.
- Monitor operational performance, resolve delivery issues, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Support recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and retention efforts for transportation team members.
- Investigate accidents, maintain required documentation, and lead safety meetings and training programs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer service and operational results.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of transportation, logistics, delivery, or distribution operations experience.
- 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing unionized CDL-A drivers is required.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, DOT compliance, and safety practices
