Head of R&D (Smart Home Appliances) - Asia Pacific
Position Overview
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven R&D Director (Smart Home Appliances) to lead the development of smart small home appliances, including kitchen, cleaning, and smart home products. This role is responsible for driving hardware platform innovation, managing cross-functional development processes, and building a high-performance team to deliver cutting-edge, reliable, and cost-effective products.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Technology Implementation
- Translate company strategy into mid- to long-term hardware R&D plans and annual goals.
- Define core performance, cost, and reliability metrics for hardware platforms.
- Design executable implementation paths and establish cross-departmental collaboration mechanisms.
- Ensure technological competitiveness and business line product performance.
Hardware Platform Innovation & Architecture Design
- Lead architecture design for smart home appliance hardware platforms.
- Drive differentiated advantages through cross-domain technology integration.
- Oversee the full hardware development lifecycle: design, testing, problem-solving, and mass production.
- Align platform technology iterations with business line needs.
Business Line Technology Empowerment
- Develop tailored R&D strategies for each product category.
- Ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of new hardware products.
- Solve key technical challenges and support successful product launches.
Cross-border Supplier System Management
- Establish technical evaluation systems for core suppliers.
- Collaborate with ODMs on joint development, solution design, and device selection.
- Optimize cross-border collaboration to enhance design quality and delivery efficiency.
High-Performance Team Building
- Build and mentor a pipeline of hardware talents.
- Foster systematic thinking, cost awareness, design excellence, and innovation.
- Create mechanisms for technology sharing and knowledge accumulation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Automation, Engineering, or related fields.
- 15+ years of hardware R&D experience, with 5+ years in management roles within smart home appliances or consumer electronics.
- Proven experience managing technical teams in R&D and engineering
- Deep expertise in electronic hardware system design, development, testing, and mass production.
- Familiarity with hardware platform architecture and core components of smart small home appliances.
- Proficient in scalable and cost-effective hardware system architecture design.
- Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and preferably IPD R&D processes.
- Excellent supplier management and negotiation skills, especially with cross-border suppliers.
- Proven team leadership and talent development abilities.
- Strategic thinker with strong execution and closed-loop monitoring skills.
- High sense of responsibility and ability to thrive under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent English speaking is required, Chinese speaking is desired
