Quality/Process Engineer
Job Overview
We are seeking a Process & Quality Engineer to support a continuous manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for optimizing production processes, improving product quality, reducing waste, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, sales, and leadership teams to enhance safety, efficiency, product performance, and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead process optimization and continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements through data analysis, collaboration, and industry best practices.
- Plan and execute process and product trials, including risk assessment, cost analysis, performance evaluation, and implementation recommendations.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues using root cause analysis, statistical methods, and technical testing.
- Reduce waste, downtime, and off-spec production through process standardization and operator training.
- Monitor production and quality metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Support capital and non-capital improvement projects.
- Manage and improve Quality Management System (QMS) and Product Safety programs.
- Lead customer complaint investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Conduct internal audits and support GMP and customer audit readiness activities.
- Collaborate on new product development, product qualification trials, and process improvements.
- Develop SOPs, technical documentation, training materials, and operating standards.
- Present technical findings and project updates to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Job Requirements
- Support and maintain quality systems, product safety programs, and manufacturing process controls.
- Analyze production, quality, and operational data to improve process capability and performance.
- Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and capable of producing accurate results.
- Train operators and production teams on quality standards, testing procedures, and process controls.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with product specifications and quality requirements.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide operational support as required.
- Work in both office and industrial manufacturing environments.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and PPE requirements while working in production areas.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and navigate industrial facilities, including stairs and uneven walking surfaces.
- Occasional extended work hours and limited travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Manufacturing, or another related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing, industrial production, or process manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; advanced data analysis skills preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, manufacturing software, or process monitoring tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Knowledge of process manufacturing, quality testing methods, and quality data interpretation is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, CAPA, GMP, and continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable
