Senior Manager, Ag Commodities & Operations

Purpose of Position

A leading food & agriculture organization is seeking a Senior Manager of Fats, Oils, and Feed Ingredients to drive revenue, margin performance, and commercial execution across a diverse portfolio including fats, oils, feed ingredients, and agricultural byproducts.

This role reports into the executive commodities leadership team and is responsible for aligning manufacturing operations, agricultural production, and customer sales strategy to optimize profitability, manage risk, and strengthen market position.

The position oversees a processing facility, company-owned agricultural operations, third-party partnerships, and external sales channels. Success requires balancing hands-on operational leadership, commercial engagement, and financial oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue, Margin & Commodity Strategy

  • Own revenue, gross margin, and contribution performance across fats, oils, feed ingredients, and byproducts, with accountability for achieving financial targets.
  • Maintain accuracy and oversight of commodity position tracking to ensure alignment across physical supply, sales commitments, and pricing decisions.
  • Partner with senior leadership to establish pricing frameworks, contract strategies, and risk parameters.
  • Support leadership reporting by translating operational and commercial performance into clear financial and risk insights.
  • Develop and manage KPIs tied to revenue growth, margin expansion, customer profitability, and working capital efficiency.

Operations & Agricultural Oversight

  • Provide leadership for manufacturing operations, including throughput, yields, and cost control for both internal use and external sales.
  • Oversee agricultural operations with responsibility for execution, cost discipline, yield optimization, and monetization strategy.
  • Lead coordination of byproduct sales and third-party processing relationships to ensure profitable conversion and distribution.
  • Align production schedules, supply outputs, and logistics with sales commitments and inventory targets.
  • Directly manage and mentor key leaders across operations and commercial teams.

Commercial Leadership & Customer Engagement

  • Develop and manage relationships with customers across dairy, poultry, and agriculture sectors.
  • Evaluate customer and product profitability, optimizing pricing, contract structures, and volume allocation.
  • Represent the organization in the marketplace, strengthening long-term commercial partnerships and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure contract execution, logistics, and customer service align with margin expectations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and partners to balance inbound supply and outbound demand.

Cross-Functional Integration

  • Lead regular coordination across operations, sales, and supply chain teams to align production, logistics, and commercial activity.
  • Integrate inputs from finance, operations, and technical teams into pricing and production decisions.
  • Maintain a working understanding of commodity markets and risk exposure to ensure alignment with broader strategy.

Qualifications

  • MBA preferred; undergraduate degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, or related field strongly desired.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in agricultural or commodity-driven operations, manufacturing, or commercial roles with P&L responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategy, customer profitability, contract structures, and commodity economics.
  • Proven leadership experience managing complex operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of commodity markets and industry end-users (e.g., dairy, poultry, agriculture).
  • Hands-on leader with strong commercial acumen and financial analysis capabilities.
