Material Planner - Manufacturing & Supply Chain
A leading infrastructure solutions provider is seeking a Material Planner to join its Supply Chain Team. This organization specializes in technologies that protect and rehabilitate critical infrastructure, including pipelines, bridges, tunnels, and industrial structures. The company offers cost-effective solutions to address operational, regulatory, and environmental challenges caused by aging infrastructure.
Position Overview
The Material Planner will report to the Director of Inventory and Material Management and work closely with teams across Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance. This role supports a key production site and is responsible for planning and purchasing raw materials such as fiber, felt, and glass. The planner will play a vital role in supplier coordination, inventory optimization, and production support.
This is a hybrid role requiring approximately 20% travel and regular presence at the manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders, maintain optimal inventory levels (PFEP), and develop stocking strategies that balance supply chain risks and financial efficiency.
- Participate in daily production meetings (S&OP), reporting on inventory status, open orders, and material in transit. Reallocate resources as needed to support production.
- Monitor supplier performance and collaborate with Procurement to improve delivery and contractual KPIs.
- Track and update pricing on purchase orders to ensure alignment with contracts.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and digital transformation (e.g., Power BI dashboards).
- Support quarterly physical inventory counts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or Supply Chain.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in procurement, planning, or inventory management.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles including demand planning, buying, and S&OP.
- Analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically (~20%).
Preferred Skills
- Professional certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or CPSM.
- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with Power BI and KPI digitization.
- Financial acumen with the ability to connect operational metrics to financial outcomes.
- Background in infrastructure, manufacturing, or subcontracting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
