Product Manager, Bacon Category
Overview:
I'm partnering with a leader in the food & beverage space that's building out a new Product Management team and looking for someone to own strategy and performance for a key category. This role leads the strategy, growth, and profitability of a major bacon product portfolio. The Product Manager owns category strategy, pricing, margin management, inventory oversight, and innovation. They act as the subject‑matter expert, partnering closely with Sales, FP&A, Operations, Planning, and Quality to drive revenue, efficiency, and market share.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategy, profitability, and growth for the bacon category.
- Manage pricing and margin performance across daily and seasonal cycles.
- Oversee inventory strategy, including fresh/frozen planning and distressed inventory resolution.
- Guide production decisions tied to raw material utilization.
- Build and manage break‑even models with FP&A and Operations to inform sales and inventory actions.
- Serve as the main contact for Sales on specs, pricing, costing, and inventory updates.
- Support pricing negotiations, trade agreements, RFPs, and assortment strategy.
- Maintain cross‑functional workflows with FP&A, Operations, Quality, and Planning.
- Review product performance to assess spec execution and yield variances.
- Monitor supply/demand balance and resolve service‑level issues.
- Act as the category expert and provide strategic guidance across teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 5+ years in product/category management, brand management, or food manufacturing.
- Experience in protein, meat processing, or CPG strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills; experience with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, Circana).
- Demonstrated P&L management capability.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decision‑making.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Willing to travel up to 30%.
