About the Company:
Our client is a leading food manufacturing business operating highly automated production facilities across Europe. As part of an expanding technical projects team, we are seeking a Project Manager to lead capital investment and engineering projects across a highly automated production environment.
The Role:
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of engineering and capital projects, from concept development and feasibility studies through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
The position sits within the Technical Department and works closely with Operations, Automation (OT), Facility Management, Maintenance, and Production teams. The successful candidate will drive improvements across manufacturing processes, production equipment, and automation systems while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
This role would particularly suit a technically curious engineer with experience in industrial automation, manufacturing processes, machinery integration, and HMI/SCADA environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering and capital projects from initial analysis and concept creation through to implementation and project completion.
- Manage project budgets, resources, timelines, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Analyse the lifecycle of production assets and develop strategies for replacement, upgrade, or optimisation.
- Coordinate the installation, commissioning, and validation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes, machinery performance, and operational efficiency.
- Drive investment projects and support long-term technical development plans.
- Oversee projects involving highly automated production equipment, including material handling, palletising systems, unloading equipment, meat preparation technology, grinders, tumblers, and associated process machinery.
- Ensure effective integration between equipment and surrounding systems, including upstream and downstream processes.
- Work closely with automation teams on machine interfaces, HMI systems, SCADA platforms, and control system integration.
- Ensure technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards remain accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate cross-functional project teams and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree in Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience managing engineering, CAPEX, manufacturing, or industrial projects within a production environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, production processes, and machinery optimisation.
- Experience with automation systems, HMI, SCADA, or industrial control systems would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of commissioning, installation, and machinery integration projects.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams across Engineering, Operations, OT, and Facility Management.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
- Proactive, inquisitive, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Fluent German language skills are essential.
