Senior Mechanical Engineer

Description

We are seeking a talented and creative Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team focused on advanced optical system development. You will collaborate with a diverse and experienced engineering group to design and deliver cutting‑edge products across consumer, industrial, medical, and aerospace markets.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy participating in the full product development cycle-from early concept generation, modeling, and simulation to hands‑on prototyping and laboratory testing. You will have the opportunity to build the systems you design and see them through to manufacturing. The team specializes in tackling unique and technically challenging projects, and we are excited to add new talent to our exceptional group.

A strong candidate brings deep mechanical engineering knowledge and a demonstrated history of successful precision design work. Creativity, curiosity, adaptability, and strong communication skills are essential. Technical writing samples are encouraged.


Requirements

  • Highly motivated individual with 7+ years of innovative experience designing precision mechanisms and/or opto‑mechanical assemblies
  • Opto‑mechanical experience preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; graduate degree preferred but not required
  • Expert user of SolidWorks or comparable CAD tools
  • Experience with FEA (static, modal, thermal)
  • Enjoys hands‑on lab work, including building and testing personal designs
  • Ready to take on the most complex mechanical design challenges within the organization
  • Emerging leader with experience as a technical lead, project lead, or customer‑facing engineer
  • Direct experience designing systems incorporating some or all of the following:
    • High‑precision motorized mechanisms
    • Lens and mirror mounts (large and small)
    • Flexures and kinematic mounts
    • Precision engineering techniques
    • Metal castings and/or plastic molded components
    • Complex precision instruments designed for manufacturability
