Area Process Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an Area Process Manager for the Power and Recovery department to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations within a large-scale industrial facility. This role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, and driving operational excellence across critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and reinforce a safety-first culture in all daily activities.
  • Ensure department operations comply with all applicable environmental permits and standards.
  • Lead by example, promoting best practices and adherence to company policies.
  • Provide leadership and technical support for troubleshooting issues related to:
    • Recovery and power boilers
    • Evaporators
    • Turbine operations
    • Air and feedwater systems
  • Collaborate with salaried staff, including Operations Maintenance Coordinators, Technical Assistants, and Process Engineers.
  • Set clear expectations for hourly team performance and operational standards.
  • Oversee reliability plans for major equipment rebuilds.
  • Contribute to capital planning initiatives to meet reliability and cost-reduction goals.
  • Assist in developing the annual operating budget for the department.
  • Maintain and update training materials and operational methods.
  • Manage the Training Coordinator and support workforce development programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial operations, preferably in pulp & paper or power generation.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
