About the Role

A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Plant Manager to help lead daily plant operations in a high-volume production environment. This role will partner closely with plant leadership to drive operational performance, improve efficiencies, ensure product quality, and maintain a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leadership within food processing operations and a passion for developing teams, optimizing production, and delivering results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and lead daily plant operations to ensure safety, quality, service, and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Develop and execute production plans that meet customer demand, cost objectives, and operational targets.
  • Monitor production metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, asset utilization, and cost reduction.
  • Partner with supervisors and department leaders to build, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Analyze labor, staffing, and operational data to improve workforce efficiency and control overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Implement corrective actions and operational improvements to address performance gaps and production challenges.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience within food manufacturing or food processing operations.
  • Prior experience in protein, poultry, meat, or other high-volume food production environments preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production management, workforce planning, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience utilizing KPIs, production metrics, and data analysis to drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing-related business systems.
