Business Development Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Business Development Manager to join our client's growing team, based in either Rotterdam or Amsterdam. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong background in logistics-particularly in air and ocean freight forwarding-to play a key role in expanding market presence and driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in sales, a deep understanding of the logistics landscape, and a passion for building lasting client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the air and ocean freight sectors. Develop and execute strategic plans to attract, engage, and secure new clients.
- Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing clients. Understand their evolving logistics needs and deliver customized solutions that enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to stay ahead of industry trends, identify emerging opportunities, and assess the competitive landscape. Translate insights into actionable business development strategies.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust sales pipeline. Monitor progress, track key metrics, and report on performance to ensure sales targets are consistently met or exceeded.
- Negotiation and Contract Management: Lead negotiations and manage contracts with clients, ensuring terms are competitive, compliant, and aligned with company goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments-including operations, customer service, and finance-to ensure seamless service delivery and a high level of client satisfaction.
- Industry Networking: Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and networking functions to promote services, strengthen brand visibility, and expand the client base.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development within the logistics industry, with a strong focus on air and ocean freight forwarding.
- In-depth knowledge of global logistics and supply chain management.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful sales strategies.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch is preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
