Our client is a leading provider of industrial packaging solutions in the Northeast region, specializing in the manufacturing of crates, skids, and other custom packaging supplies.


About the Role

Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to help execute their U.S. sales strategy. This full-time, remote position is based in the New England area, with occasional in-office presence required. The ideal candidate will have experience in outside sales or business development and be comfortable traveling throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

As a key member of the sales team, the BDM will identify customer needs, deliver complete packaging solutions, and manage new accounts during the initial phase of engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve or exceed revenue and performance targets within the assigned territory.
  • Proactively generate new business opportunities with both new and existing clients.
  • Use a consultative sales approach, engaging with decision-makers at all levels.
  • Develop and execute a territory-specific sales plan aligned with the company's strategy.
  • Present and promote comprehensive packaging solutions and services.
  • Prepare proposals based on customer specifications and coordinate with engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and expenses using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends within the region.
  • Support new customer onboarding and transition accounts to internal teams once established.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Business, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Experience:
Proven experience in outside sales or business development, particularly in areas such as:

  • Multi-material packaging solutions
  • Supply chain, logistics, or warehousing
  • Third-party or contract packaging services
  • Sales in industries like aerospace, robotics, telecom, medical machinery, energy, or heavy equipment

Required Skills

  • Strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
  • Consultative and technical selling expertise
  • Ability to work independently and travel within the assigned region

Note: This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in the New England area. Proximity to the company's regional office is important, as occasional in-office meetings are required.
