Position Overview

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Buyer to join their procurement team at the Huntsville, AR facility. This role plays a vital part in supporting a high-mix, low-volume production environment by ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, components, and services. The ideal candidate will bring experience from aerospace or precision manufacturing sectors and possess a strong grasp of supply chain operations, vendor management, and material planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials and services in alignment with production schedules and quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with aerospace regulations.
  • Interpret complex Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings to identify procurement needs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams to support new product introductions and custom builds.
  • Monitor inventory levels and lead times to prevent shortages and reduce excess stock.
  • Troubleshoot supply chain issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years' purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting; aerospace or high-mix, low-volume environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement practices, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, and other aerospace compliance standards is a plus.
