Position Summary:

We are supporting a leading firm in the Life Sciences sector on their search for a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join their procurement team. This role is primarily responsible for managing the end-to-end purchase order (PO) lifecycle, ensuring timely and accurate procurement of materials, reagents, equipment, and services critical to our research and production operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in a regulated biotech or life sciences environment and a strong understanding of procurement systems and vendor coordination.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Order Management

    • Create, review, and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and project requirements.
    • Monitor PO status and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantity, or delivery timelines.
    • Maintain accurate records of all purchase transactions and documentation.
  • Supplier Coordination

    • Communicate with vendors to confirm order details, lead times, and shipping logistics.
    • Track supplier performance and escalate issues as needed.
    • Support supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, finance, and quality teams to align procurement activities with operational needs.
    • Assist in forecasting and inventory planning to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • System & Compliance

    • Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) for PO creation and tracking.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards (e.g., GMP), and audit requirements.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong knowledge of purchase order systems and procurement workflows.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with GMP or ISO-regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of biotech-specific materials and suppliers.
  • Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, APICS) is a plus.
