Position Overview
The Control Engineer II will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing process control systems across multiple manufacturing facilities. This position is remote, with periodic travel to plant locations for project execution and collaboration with on-site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and integrate process control systems to improve production efficiency, quality, and automation.
- Lead and manage capital projects, including those exceeding $1 million in scope.
- Utilize Allen Bradley PLCs, HMI systems, and data historian tools for system monitoring and optimization.
- Conduct engineering calculations for material and energy balances, equipment sizing, and system design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and external contractors.
- Develop and maintain project documentation such as P&IDs, layouts, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Provide technical support and training to plant personnel on new systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Travel up to 25% to support project implementation and site collaboration.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on process control and automation.
- Experience with solids handling, drying, combustion, and environmental compliance is a plus.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, Ethernet/IP networks, and industrial instrumentation.
- Experience with HMI programming (PanelView), VFDs, servos, and power distribution (480V).
- Strong troubleshooting skills using schematics and control diagrams.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and statistical methods for process improvement.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a remote setting.
- Comfortable working across departments and with external vendors.
