Director of Business Development - Advanced Aerospace & Technology
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 base (depending on experience)
An established aerospace and advanced‑technology manufacturer is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives across core and emerging markets. This role is a key member of the commercial leadership team and is responsible for long‑term strategy, major customer engagement, and driving multi‑year revenue expansion.
Reporting to executive leadership, the Director will oversee strategic planning, key account development, and cross‑functional coordination to strengthen the company's market position in both OEM and aftermarket environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute multi‑year business development strategies across aerospace and adjacent markets.
- Build and maintain executive‑level relationships with major OEM, aftermarket, and emerging‑technology customers.
- Lead negotiations for significant contracts, pricing agreements, and long‑term partnerships.
- Identify new product and market opportunities through market research, competitive analysis, and customer engagement.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to senior managers and business development team members.
- Oversee preparation of accurate multi‑year sales and order forecasts that support corporate planning.
- Direct the development of complex proposals in collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Contracts.
- Partner with Marketing to ensure alignment between growth initiatives and brand visibility.
- Support strategic planning efforts, including evaluation of potential mergers and acquisitions.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in aerospace OEM and/or aftermarket business development.
- At least 3-5 years in a senior management role with demonstrated success leading commercial teams.
- Track record of success in strategic planning, key account management, and high‑value contract negotiations.
- Strong understanding of aerospace market dynamics, OEM procurement processes, and government contracting (FAR/DFARS).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and executive‑level negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms and advanced forecasting tools.

This position oversees managers and individual contributors within sales and marketing. Responsibilities include hiring, training, performance management, and developing a high‑performing, customer‑focused team culture.
Work Environment
This is an on‑site leadership role in a professional office environment, with periodic travel required for customer meetings, industry events, and cross‑functional collaboration.
