Position Overview
The Process Engineer plays a key role in advancing manufacturing performance by designing, optimizing, and sustaining production processes. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, enhance product consistency, and support the successful launch of new products and equipment.
Through data-driven analysis, hands-on troubleshooting, and structured continuous improvement methodologies, the Process Engineer helps ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain consistent product quality using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement tools.
- Analyze equipment and process performance to identify root causes of downtime, defects, or inefficiencies, and develop sustainable corrective actions.
- Support equipment selection, system design, and production line layouts to enhance runability and throughput.
- Lead and support new product introductions and equipment installations by planning and executing trials, defining performance metrics, and analyzing results against established KPIs.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and food-safety standards, including GMP and HACCP requirements, through risk assessments, documentation, and corrective action plans.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve process and quality issues, clearly communicating findings, trends, and improvement recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver training for production teams on new equipment, processes, standard work, and best practices, while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to department and organizational initiatives as needed to support broader business objectives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in process engineering, quality engineering, or manufacturing operations.
- Proficiency with Lean principles, Six Sigma tools, PFMEA, root cause analysis, and quality management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive objective, evidence-based decisions.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and 2D CAD software (such as AutoCAD or DraftSight).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.
- Manufacturing experience within paper, film, converting, or printing environments.
