Director of Procurement - Packaging
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical understanding of resin markets, molding processes, and plastic packaging supply chains, along with the leadership skills to drive strategic change across a complex global operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the long‑term procurement strategy for all plastic packaging categories, including resins, bottles, closures, films, and rigid packaging.
- Own supplier selection, negotiation, contract management, and ongoing performance evaluation.
- Monitor market trends, resin pricing, and global supply conditions to proactively mitigate risk and drive cost‑savings.
- Partner with R&D, Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to support new product development and packaging innovation initiatives.
- Lead a high-performing procurement team, fostering growth, accountability, and strategic thinking.
- Ensure supplier compliance to quality, service, sustainability, and regulatory standards.
- Drive continuous improvement across the supply base, including dual‑sourcing strategies, inventory optimization, and value engineering.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement strategy with financial and operational objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of procurement experience, with significant expertise in plastics or plastic packaging.
- Strong understanding of resin markets, molding processes (injection, blow molding, extrusion), and supplier capabilities.
- Proven success negotiating large‑scale contracts and managing global supplier relationships.
- Experience leading teams and driving organizational change.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Track record of achieving cost savings while improving service, quality, and supply continuity.
