Director of Procurement

Position Summary:

We are seeking a technically proficient and strategically minded Director of Procurement with a background in Electrical Engineering to lead our procurement operations for electrical components. This role is ideal for a leader who understands the technical specifications of electrical systems and components and can translate that knowledge into effective sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

    • Develop and execute procurement strategies for electrical components including PCBs, semiconductors, connectors, wiring harnesses, sensors, and power systems.
    • Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers globally.
  • Technical Collaboration

    • Work closely with engineering and R&D teams to understand product requirements and ensure component compatibility and compliance.
    • Participate in design reviews and BOM (Bill of Materials) planning to align procurement with product development timelines.
  • Cost & Risk Management

    • Lead cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and supplier consolidation.
    • Monitor market trends and component availability to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure continuity.
  • Team Leadership

    • Manage and mentor a team of procurement professionals and technical buyers.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance

    • Ensure all sourced components meet industry standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH, IPC) and internal quality requirements.
    • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Master's or MBA preferred).
  • 8-12 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in electrical or electronics manufacturing.
  • Deep understanding of electrical components, specifications, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement analytics tools.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Certification
