Director of Sales
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Director of Sales to lead commercial growth initiatives for a leading snack food manufacturer with a strong presence across retail, grocery, club, convenience, and foodservice channels. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, leading a high-performing sales team, expanding key customer relationships, and driving profitable revenue growth across North America.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in branded food, snack foods, or consumer packaged goods (CPG), along with proven leadership experience and a track record of building strategic customer partnerships and delivering sustained growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth, market share expansion, and customer retention across key channels.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales managers, account executives, and business development professionals.
- Manage and expand relationships with grocery retailers, club stores, convenience chains, distributors, and foodservice operators.
- Identify new business opportunities, channel expansion initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
- Lead customer negotiations, annual business planning, pricing discussions, promotional programs, and contract renewals.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, supply chain, and product development teams to ensure successful execution of sales initiatives.
- Analyze sales performance, customer trends, competitive activity, and market opportunities to guide business decisions.
- Establish forecasting processes, sales targets, budgets, and KPI reporting for executive leadership.
- Drive distribution gains, new product launches, and category growth initiatives across key accounts.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive sales leadership experience within food & beverage, snack foods, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or related industries.
- Proven success managing strategic retail accounts and leading high-performing sales teams.
- Strong understanding of grocery, club, convenience, mass retail, and foodservice sales channels.
- Experience with customer planning, trade promotions, category management, and revenue growth strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to drive measurable revenue growth while improving profitability.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Background
- Experience within branded snack foods, confectionery, baked goods, salty snacks, better-for-you snacks, or related CPG categories.
- Established relationships with major retailers such as Walmart, Target, Kroger, Albertsons, Costco, Sam's Club, BJ's, Ahold Delhaize, and regional grocery chains.
- Experience managing broker networks, distributors, and national account programs.
- Strong understanding of consumer trends, category management, and go-to-market strategies within the food and beverage industry.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary range of $150,000 - $195,000, plus annual bonus potential
