Distribution Center Manager
A building materials client of mine is seeking a Distribution Center Manager to oversee all warehouse and distribution operations. This role is responsible for staffing, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, customer service, and overall facility performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team by ensuring proper staffing, training, and accountability.
- Foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.
- Oversee receiving, shipping, and inventory activities to support on-time customer delivery.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting and inventory control processes.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvements to drive operational excellence.
- Communicate goals and performance expectations, helping employees understand their impact on business results.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and utilize Lean principles to increase efficiency.
- Optimize warehouse layout, workflows, and picking processes to improve productivity.
- Investigate service issues and support root cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.
- Manage customer relationships and address operational challenges proactively.
- Coordinate with internal teams and distribution locations to share best practices and standardize processes.
- Oversee the distribution center budget, expenses, and overall financial performance.
- Communicate transportation, carrier, and capacity concerns to leadership as needed.
- Lead special projects and operational initiatives as assigned.
